MISO ROBLEDO CUP
(Open Cup)
The MISO Open "ROBLEDO" Cup is a competition among all MISO Open Division teams (Div I, Div II & Div III) plus other guest teams from the State of Hawaii or other MISO Divisions. It is named after Cesar Robledo, who played a major role on getting MISO started. He later became MISO's first President.
Thanks to our sponsors, since the 2006 edition teams play for monetary prizes starting with the 2nd round. The monetary value increases with each round thereafter.
This competition, is composed of 5 rounds, similar to the UEFA Champions League. The first Round is played among the 20 lower seeded teams (teams are ranked according to their last season's final standings), which are split into 5 Groups (the Groups are balanced using last seasons final standings). The winners from each group along with the 4 best 2nd Place teams advance to the next round and are paired up with the top 7 teams. The 2nd & 3rd Rounds are played in a Home and Away format, where the team with the best aggregate score advances to the next Round. The Semifinals and Finals are played as a single game. Most games are played in the evenings during the weekdays, at the Ala Wai field.
